A lot more freedom, A happy little boy

Last Monday, Nolan got his spica cast removed!!! We happily said goodbye to that nasty, smelly thing. And no thank you, doctor, we do not want to keep it. Are you kidding me? We couldn't ditch it fast enough!

Nolan was put in a cylinder leg cast, and he is free to walk. His entire demeanor changed the second he sat down in his car seat, something he had not done for four weeks. He instantly became his happy self again. It was amazing and so wonderful to see. All throughout last week I would tear up with happiness, so happy to finally see Nolan smile, laugh, and be his silly little self.  There are still frustrations since he is still in a cast, but it is a million times better. Especially since it's water-proof!

Nolan quickly learned to walk in the cast, which didn't surprise anyone. However, he walked on his toes. He said it hurt to walk, and at first I thought he meant it hurt his femur. But I realized the cast was digging into his heel and the front of his foot. So I took him back to the doctor and they put a new cast on. This one is higher up on his ankle, and it allows him to walk flat-footed. He should be good to go until we go back on the 10th for X-rays and hopefully get the cast taken off for good!

William is doing very well, as usual. We had his 9 month well visit last week. He aced the behavior/physical survey with flying colors. No surprise there! He is now in the 54th% for height and the 25th% for weight. So he's gained in both areas! He does look bigger.  Liam is now signing when he wants to eat (the "more" sign), plays peekaboo, can stand on his own for 3 seconds or so at a time, and claps while saying "Ka Ka Ka". He also is done with purées and is loving table food.  His personality is coming out more and more. He is hilarious! He makes goofy faces and noises at us and giggles along with us.

William just adores Nolan and wants to do everything Nolan does. Nolan is tolerating this more and more, and has been playing with him and has been really sweet to him lately. It's so cute! He pushes him in the swing, pats his head, gets concerned when Liam gets hurt, reads books to him, etc. Of course we still have our jealous moments, but it's so nice to see Nolan learning to enjoy him.

Happy guy like usual
