Hello Third Trimester!

At 28 weeks, I am officially in the third trimester! I'm hoping that I don't lose my energy like I've heard happens this trimester...Especially since school is starting up in a few weeks!

The last three weeks have been eventful non-pregnancy wise and fairly uneventful pregnancy wise, which I think is a good thing. That means there hasn't been anything too concerning going on with the pregnancy! A few days after I turned 26 weeks pregnant my family and I went to South Beach. The humidity wasn't as horrible as everyone had warned me about, but that's probably because MN has been icky and humid this summer. I think I was just used to it. I did learn the hard way the first night in Miami, though, that I didn't drink enough water that day. My lower abdomen started getting achy. Not cramping like contractions, just very achy. But as soon as I sat down and chugged a few glasses of water the aches went away and I was fine.

Throughout the next week we explored South Beach, ate at many restaurants, shopped, went to a Marlins game, and swam in the beautiful but scary beach that was filled with barracudas, jellyfish, stingrays, toe nibbling fish (especially toes with neon green nail polish...really wish I wasn't wearing that!), and a tiny shark (about a foot long). Yes, we saw all of those things in the shallow beach that we swam in!!! I was just happy the water was crystal clear and you could see the dangers that lurked around you. I learned that if you dig your toes into the sand so the fish can't see your bright nail polish they won't nibble you.

A few of the days the current and waves were strong, which made me nauseas. I found out how hard it is to hang out on the beach when you're pregnant and don't have a chair to sit in. You're not allowed to lay on your stomach or back and sitting without anything to lean against makes my lower back ache. I didn't feel like laying on my side, because that would just look weird, like I was a beached whale or something. haha :)

While we were in Miami I turned 27 weeks pregnant, and this time Jason joined in the picture. We were all out for dinner at a restaurant at Bayside (goooooooooooo Tigers!) so we took a picture with the pretty water and boats behind us.

Another fun part of the trip was that my mom, dad, and Jeff all were able to feel the little guy kick! His kicks are strong now and you can my stomach move when he kicks. Some nights of the trip he was very active for long amounts of time. I'm pretty sure he was having a dance party.

One annoying pregnancy side effect that I've been getting, that was especially bad on the trip, is heartburn. A few different nights on the trip I had 2-3 hours of pain, not able to sleep or even lie down. I looked up what medications my OB allows me to take and bought Zantac and Tums. Laurie told me to take the Zantac before I eat and the Tums after, and that has helped a lot!

Now we're back in MN and I'm trying to enjoy my last full week of summer. I have a few days of workshop next week, and then the week after that it's back to school. When I turned 28 weeks on Tuesday it made me realize that Jason and I really need to get going on the nursery! We're going to purchase the crib this weekend and hopefully soon after that we'll find the dresser and changing table we want. The crib sheets we purchased are expected to ship next week. When we get the crib sheets we'll figure out what color we want to paint the room. We're probably going to go with the deep orange that is in them.

I had my 28 week appointment this morning and, like usual, it was a quick one! I am measuring right on at 28 weeks. The little guy's heartbeat is finally what the typical "boy" heartbeat is - about 130. That was pretty much the whole appoitnment! I scheduled my 30 week appointment for two weeks from tomorrow and went home. I was gone less than an hour, which pleased Keegan. :)

  1. The pic from your trip is so cute!! I can relate on the heart burn. The third trimester I would get heart even from drinking water! I was eating tums like candy.
